Get information about your borough and the area you live in

The Brent Wellbeing Index is an interactive tool that measures how Brent's 22 wards are performing across a wide range of social, environmental and economic outcomes. It focuses on what life is like for Brent’s communities, covering areas such as, health, housing, safety, education, access to services and community wellbeing.

The Index provides a detailed and shared understanding of the borough, helping the council and partners to become an insight-led borough that better understands its communities and takes data-informed decisions.

Using the Index

Selecting any indicator tab in the scorecard will open the relevant map in our Borough Data Explorer. Use the tabs along the top to switch features.

How to use the tool

2. Explore the tabs

Choose from the different sections of the dashboard to explore all parts of the Index, starting with the Overview followed by:

  • Overview: Introduces the Brent Wellbeing Index, explaining its purpose, how it supports decision-making, and how the dashboard is organised.
  • Index Framework: Explains how the Index measures outcomes in 22 wards using four key pillars – security & stability, health & longevity, opportunity & social mobility and belonging & trust. Each pillar is made up of three themes. For each theme, the question informs the indicators selected for inclusion.
  • Index & IoD 2025: Explores the relationship between a ward’s Index score and the 2025 Indices of Deprivation.
  • Wellbeing Outcomes: Interactive tools to compare wards across all Index pillars and themes.
  • Pillar - Security & Stability: Looks at whether people can meet their essential needs, stay safe, and maintain stability in their day-to-day lives.
  • Pillar - Health & Longevity: Assesses whether residents have the foundations for good health and long lives, and where preventable health challenges may exist.
  • Pillar - Opportunity & Social Mobility: Assesses whether people have access to education, skills, and opportunities that help them achieve their potential and improve their lives.
  • Pillar - Belonging & trust: Looks at how connected, engaged, and supported communities are, and whether residents trust and contribute to the places where they live.
  • Scorecard: Detailed view of a single ward’s Index scores across all indicators.
  • Indicator Hub: Acts as a reference guide for all indicators included in the Brent Wellbeing Index, providing definitions and units of measurement.

3. Compare wards

  • Use the ‘Wellbeing Outcomes’ tab to compare wards using a heat map or radar chart. Hover or click to see scores.

4. View by pillar

  • The Security & Stability, Health & Longevity, Opportunity & Social Mobility and Belonging & Trust tabs show detailed scores for each ward. Use the dropdowns to choose what to view.

5. See full ward details

  • The Scorecard section can give you a full breakdown of an individual ward's scores.

6. Indicator Hub

  • The Indicator Hub tab provides a breakdown of definitions for all the indicators and their unit of measurement.
