The Mayor will be supporting three charities during his year in office:
- Hilltop Circle - is a Brent-based charity focusing on providing training, education and support to young people with the aim of instilling values, self esteem, skills and confidence to help them build a successful and fulfilling life. The organisation offers training, mentoring and other events aimed at all young people in Brent.
- SUFRA - Sufra NW London is a local charity established in 2013 to address both the causes and consequences of poverty in the community. The Community Hub provides a life-line for people in crisis – including families living in extreme poverty and people who are vulnerable, homeless and socially isolated.
- The Jason Roberts Foundation - this was established in 2007 by the former professional footballer Jason Roberts. The foundation provides a support programme including mentoring, life skills, education and training projects within its wider sports activities and has worked with young people at risk of offending, those excluded from school or struggling in the school curriculum, and young people with physical and learning difficulties. The organisation aims to create a safe haven to engage with children at an early stage to prevent them pursuing crime.
