About AWRC
For over 45 years, AWRC has been supporting Black and Minority Ethnic (BME) women and girls to live safe, independent, and fulfilling lives. We exist because many women face increased risks of domestic abuse and harmful practices, while structural barriers can make it harder to access the specialist support they need, particularly those with no recourse to public funds.
Our aim is to empower women and girls and help them build safe, thriving futures through specialist support and guidance.
Our services include:

- life skills activities and workshops
Our vision: A world where BME women and girls live free from fear, violence, honour-based abuse, forced marriage, and other harmful practices.
Specialist Programmes
- Harmful Practices Training Programme
Equips Independent Domestic Violence Advocates (IDVAs) with the expertise to tackle complex forms of abuse
- Multi-Partner Projects
Leading three major initiatives, including:- support for women with no recourse to public funds
- two of the UK’s largest programmes addressing harmful practices
- Dedicated Helpline
London’s first helpline specifically supporting survivors with no recourse to public funds
- Healing Garden Project
Officially launched by Her Majesty Queen Camilla, this safe space helps women recover from trauma and rebuild their lives
