The Mayor will be supporting the following charities during their year in office:
- PLIAS Resettlement which is a community-based organisation providing support, advice and guidance to people with criminal convictions, and aiming to support offenders and ex-offenders to re-reintegrate back into society. They offer support to people who are at risk of crime, as well as victims of crime, and those who experience domestic violence.
- Preston Community Library which has been chosen because when I previously chaired a Contextual Safeguarding Working Group. I learned, through its work, that young people considered the library a safe space and for some, it provided a welcome warm space. Libraries are incredibly important spaces that offer a variety of free activities and information for all communities and all ages.
