The collection times

You can view the timings of each timed collections area here. We have also delivered a leaflet with information on where to leave your waste and at what time of day you are allowed to place your waste out for collection. There are also signs on the street for your information.

Enforcement

Because the scheme sets specific time slots at the start and end of each day when bags and bins may be put out for collection our Enforcement Team will ensure these time bands are followed.

If you put your waste and recycling out for collection on the pavement outside the stated times you may receive a fine under sections 46 or 47 of the Environmental Protection Act 1990. If the fine is unpaid, then legal proceedings will be filed against you/your business.

Avoiding a fine is easy, just follow these simple rules.

Household waste and recycling

  • Put your waste and recycling on the street no more than 30 minutes before your collection time.
  • Make sure all bags are securely closed so they do not spill or leak.
  • Place cardboard in the recycling bags that we provide with other recycling materials, or bundle large amounts of cardboard together securely
  • Order a special collection for bulky items or take them to the reuse and recycling centre yourself.

Commercial waste and recycling

  • Make sure your commercial waste is collected by a licensed company.
  • Put your commercial waste in branded bag or bin provided by your licensed waste collector.  Never put your commercial waste in a plain bag.
  • Put your waste and recycling on the street no more than 30 minutes before your collection time.
  • Make sure all bags are securely closed so they do not spill or leak.
  • Make sure any cardboard is bundled securely.

Are you a business? You may need to change your commercial waste and recycling arrangements

If you are a business, the introduction of timed collections may require you to amend your existing arrangements with your current waste provider to ensure you meet with the new guidelines.

Please note these new timed collections do not apply if your commercial waste and recycling is collected from within your premises.
