Thandie first joined BHM as a volunteer Community Champion during the pandemic whilst furloughed from her job in retail. Thandie’s passion for supporting the health of her community led to her before joining NHS Central North West London NHS Trust in a full-time employed position as a Community Connector in 2021.

Adding value to my community
After being furloughed in lockdown, Thandie Lawrence discovered Brent Health Matters and a new new opportunity to connect with her local community.

I was attracted by the opportunity to work in my community. I listen to the health issues my community raise, address stigma around mental health, and signpost to Talking Therapies and other support. BHM has helped me to feel connected and useful in my community.

Thandie is currently completing a Master’s Degree in Public Health, and hopes to continue developing as a health professional. Outside of work Thandie loves to walk in Brent’s local parks, exercise at home, read and spend time with her children.
