Apply for a gaming machine licence (for licensed premises)
More about this application
The Gambling Act 2005 provides an automatic entitlement to make available two gaming machines (of category C or D*) for use in alcohol licensed premises. To take advantage of this entitlement, the person who holds the on-premises licence must give notice to us of their intention to make gaming machines available for use, and must pay the appropriate fee (.pdf, 188.2kB)
We may issue licensed premises gaming machine permits for any number of category C or D machines* in licensed premises. A new permit authorising a specified number of machines will effectively replace, not be in addition to, the automatic entitlement outlined above.
Applications must be made by the person or organisation who holds the "on premises" alcohol licence for the premises for which the application is being made. The application must be made to the authority in whose area the premises are wholly or partly situated. However, an application may not be made if a premises licence, issued under the Gambling Act, is in effect at the premises.
In addition to your application form you also need to:
- provide two sets of plans of the premises (the plan should show basic information about the situation/layout of the premises)
- provide the appropriate fee (.pdf, 188.2kB)
There is no requirement:
- to apply to the gambling commission for an operating licence
- to give notice to responsible authorities
- to advertise the application
