Redevelopment overview
A new school for South Kilburn - investing in our children’s future
Plans are now moving ahead for a brand-new primary school that will bring modern facilities, improved learning spaces, and greater opportunities for local children.
Thanks to Brent Council securing Strategic Community Infrastructure Levy (SCIL) funding, a new South Kilburn Primary School will be built on the site of Carlton Vale Infant School. This project is part of the wider South Kilburn regeneration and reflects the council’s long-standing commitment to ensuring all children in the area have access to high-quality education in well-designed, future-ready spaces.
The new South Kilburn Primary School is more than just a building - it’s a long-term investment in the community’s children, a symbol of regeneration, and a promise to deliver real, positive change for those who live here.
What will be delivered
The new school will open as a 1 Form Entry (1FE) primary school with a nursery and facilities to support children with special educational needs and disabilities (SEND). As the community grows, It will be future-proofed to expand to a 2 Form Entry (2FE) school.
Designed to meet the latest educational and environmental standards, the school will offer:
- bright, spacious classrooms
- safe and accessible facilities
- energy-efficient buildings built for modern teaching and learning
Integration with wider regeneration plans to support a thriving community
Supporting families and the community
The new school is being delivered in close partnership with the leadership teams of Carlton Vale Infant and Kilburn Park Junior Schools, working together to prepare for a seamless transition. Once the new building is ready, pupils from both schools will come together under one roof - creating a unified, community-centred primary school. This investment directly supports local families, ensuring that children can learn close to home in a high-quality environment that reflects their potential.
