If you live or will be living in a private property where there are three or more unrelated people sharing facilities such as a kitchen or bathroom, then you are in a House in Multiple Occupation (HMO).
This means that your Landlord may need a licence to rent out the property.
By law, landlords of licensed HMOs must give tenants a statement of the terms on which they live in the property. If you live in a large HMO, your landlord must meet certain standards and obligations.
In Brent, all private rented properties, including those let to single families or two people will need a licence in:
- Dudden Hill
- Kensal Green
- Kilburn
- Mapesbury
- Queen’s Park
