Water main repairs on High Road, Willesden
Thames Water is carrying out essential repairs to an old water main on High Road, Willesden. To keep traffic flowing, temporary traffic lights and parking suspensions are in place. Unfortunately, some motorists are ignoring these restrictions, causing significant congestion. Please do not park in the suspended bays.
The works are expected to last until the first week in October. If possible, please avoid the area during this period. Thames Water apologises for any inconvenience.
Notting Hill Carnival returns on Sunday 24 August and Monday 25 August 2025.
We are expecting a very busy bank holiday weekend across the carnival area and our parks as we lead up to the event. Make sure you are aware of road closures and help us to create a safe event space.

A Traffic Management Order (TMO) will be in place over the Bank Holiday weekend which will include the following measures. Letters will be sent to all affected residents.

The arrangements include providing residents in these streets with a concession to park in the neighbouring CPZ to help alleviate the difficulties caused by these measures. The same measures as in previous years will be implemented and, as follows:-
the above measures will apply on Sunday, 24 August and Monday 25 August 2025.
All ‘no parking’ cones will be removed by Tuesday, 26 August 2025.
Additional Parking enforcement will operate in the immediate streets surrounding Notting Hill Carnival. This will include Harrow Road, Chamberlayne Road, Kilburn Lane, Banister Road and Mortimer Road where parking will be suspended. The Parking enforcement team will be on site from 7am until 11pm.
There will be additional enforcement in the wider footprint including Kensal Rise, Kensal Green and Queens Park.
In addition to the above, there will be an additional resource allocated to Harlesden throughout the day, with a specific focus from 5pm where a higher number of vehicles are expected to be in the area.
There will be a tow truck resource in place specifically for the Notting Hill Carnival.
Portable toilets will be provided as per previous years at the following locations:

Brent Council is providing additional CCTV cameras around the areas most affected by those visiting the Carnival.
The CCTV control room will monitoring mobile and fixed CCTV assets around the carnival footprint and other priority areas in the Borough. This will include an additional Police resource.
The CCTV control room staff have a direct link into the policing operational command for policing carnival.
Managers will be on the footprint throughout the Notting Hill Carnival event and will manage any issues that arise.
Our Senior Management will also be available should any matters escalate.
Having worked closely with Councillors, who have spoken to local residents, we have managed to increase Police presence. The focus of these operations are detailed below.
There will be a specialist Licensing Police team available to respond to any Licensing contraventions.
This year we have additional Police in our neighbouring borough Westminster. They will support our Brent Policing team where necessary.
Partnership working with other local Boroughs has included engaging with young people to work around any potential vulnerabilities or gang membership, putting Brent in the best possible position ahead of the Carnival weekend.
If a knife is located on or near your property, below is detailed information on how this can be dealt with.
How to safely transport a weapon for disposal at one of our amnesty bins
Place the knife in a sturdy container (e.g. cereal box). Seal it well with tape to prevent reopening.
Ensure the knife is not accessible while transporting. Carry it directly to the knife bin location.
Place the wrapped knife into the designated knife bin.
Get in touch with your local Councillor, who will notify Brent Council. Where possible the Police will then be directed to collect the weapon from you.
We expect to see a large amount of nitrous oxide canisters on the footprint throughout the Carnival weekend. As a result of the gas contained within these canisters, they have to be cleared separately to other waste. If thrown in with general waste, there is a high risk of explosion when crushed.
Once waste is cleared from the streets, the process of removing the gas canisters will begin. If you see these placed in piles across the area, these are for collection by our waste contractor Veolia. We ask that you please bear with the team as they clear the canisters up.
