UK Visas and Immigration (UKVI) are developing a digital immigration system. This means they are replacing physical documents with an online record of your immigration status. This is known as an eVisa.
From April 2024, the Home Office will send emails to everyone holding physical immigration documents, known as biometric residence permits (BRPs). These emails will instruct recipients on how to create a UK Visas and Immigration (UKVI) account to access their new eVisa.
The eVisa will be the only official proof of your immigration status, replacing all physical documents used for this purpose.
