Leader of Brent Council responds to terrorist attack in Australia

Cllr Muhammed Butt, Leader of Brent Council, said: “Our thoughts are with all those who were killed or injured in the horrific antisemitic terrorist attack in Bondi Beach, Australia, and with the families and loved ones who are now facing unimaginable loss.

"This attack will have caused deep shock and distress, especially as many of our Jewish friends, neighbours and colleagues are beginning Hanukkah, a time that should be marked by light, family and reflection. We want our Jewish communities in Brent to know that they are not alone, and that we stand with you in sorrow and in solidarity.

"We are working closely with the police to ensure there is visible reassurance and support around synagogues and community venues, so that people can gather safely and with confidence at this important time.”
