Up to £5,000 available for climate-friendly community projects

A fantastic opportunity has reopened for residents and groups with creative and innovative ideas to tackle the climate and ecological emergency in Brent.

Brent Council’s Together Towards Zero fund is offering grants of up to £5,000 to support climate action projects.

Brent-based projects have until spring next year to apply for this latest round of funding.

Successful schemes to date have seen individuals and organisations help to make Brent’s neighbourhoods greener and support local climate action events across the borough. Examples include flourishing gardens around St Mark’s Church in Kensal Rise, a bike hire scheme at the Central Mosque of Brent, and a thriving wildlife pond on St Raphael’s Estate.

“

The Together Towards Zero grant is about bringing climate action closer to people and encouraging everyone to get involved in a way that is meaningful to them.

Councillor Jake Rubin, Cabinet Member for Employment, Innovation and Climate Action, said:

“The Together Towards Zero grant is about bringing climate action closer to people and encouraging everyone to get involved in a way that is meaningful to them. We know our residents are brimming with ideas for making their local area greener in every sense, and the grant exists to empower residents to put these plans into action. I’m so proud to see how much positive environmental action has been achieved across the borough since the grant launched four years ago.

“We are excited to receive the next round of applications, and look forward to seeing how we can support residents’ climate-friendly plans over the next few months.”

Applications will be assessed on frequent and regular basis as they come in. The deadline may close earlier than Spring 2026 if all of the funding is successfully allocated in advance.

Submissions must meet the following criteria:

• Support one or more of the five themes within the council’s climate and ecological emergency strategy.
• Make the local environment greener and more biodiverse or provide an opportunity for tangible carbon savings.
• Engage the community, allowing as many local residents as possible to participate or benefit.
• Be clearly deliverable and leave a positive environmental impact.
