Brent Communications

Residents are invited to a public meeting on Monday 26 January to hear how antisocial behaviour (ASB) is being tackled in Brent and say what more can be done to make neighbourhoods safer.

The meeting comes after ASB was named the top concern by residents. The session will focus on practical action, partnership working, and provide information on how residents can report issues more effectively.

“

Residents want action on antisocial behaviour, not just discussion. This meeting is about hearing directly from communities, being clear about what is already happening, and agreeing what more needs to be done.

Cabinet Member for Community Safety and Cohesion

Cllr Ishma Moeen, the new Cabinet Member for Community Safety and Cohesion, said: “Residents want action on antisocial behaviour, not just discussion. This meeting is about hearing directly from communities, being clear about what is already happening, and agreeing what more needs to be done.”

North West Police Commander, Luke Williams, will explain how police are working across the borough with the council, partners, and communities to respond to ASB and prevent problems escalating.

Simon Egbor, Head of Community Safety and Prevention at Brent, will outline the council’s approach, including updated Public Space Protection Orders (PSPOs) and new guidance to help residents understand what to report to the police and what to report to the council.

Residents will have the opportunity to share concerns and ask questions directly of senior police and council officers. Attendees can also meet their local police sergeant and council staff to discuss issues local to them and explore ways communities and services can work together to reduce ASB.

The meeting is organised by the Brent Safer Neighbourhood Board (SNB), made up of community members and partners, to scrutinise police activity and enable residents to engage directly on local safety priorities. Following the meeting, the SNB will work with police and partners to ensure action is taken on issues raised.

The public meeting will take place on Monday 26 January, 6.30–9pm, at the Grand Hall, Brent Civic Centre, and will be broadcast live online. Refreshments will be provided. No registration is required.
