Abandoned vehicles

If you think a vehicle has been abandoned on the road or on Brent Housing Management land you can report it to us.

Before we can take any action we need to make sure the vehicle has actually been abandoned.

Signs it could have been abandoned include:

• not being moved for a significant period of time
• flat tyres or broken windows
• rusty brake discs
• fired damaged or burned out
• being untaxed.

If the vehicle is untaxed but is being used, you should tell the DVLA. Vehicles with no MOT should be referred to the police.

It can take up to four weeks for an abandoned vehicle to be removed.

Vehicles abandoned on private housing estates

If a vehicle has been abandoned on a private housing estate you can contact your estate management team. You can also report it to us online.

Report an abandoned vehicle on an estate

We remove unwanted vehicles free of charge for Brent residents and for a set fee if you do not live in Brent and manage a property in the borough.

Brent residents

We will remove an unwanted vehicle parked at your home address free of charge.

You will need to provide proof that you:

• live in Brent - (utility or council tax bill)
• own the vehicle - (V5 registration document).

Property managing agents

If you are the managing agent for a property and you do not live in the borough, we can remove an unwanted vehicle from private property. There is a cost of £100 per vehicle inspection.

Request for an unwanted vehicle to be removed.

We will contact you with information on how to make payment once the above form has been received and processed by our office.

Please note:

• vehicles will not be removed until payment has been received by the council
• the vehicle/s in question will have to be deemed abandoned by an authorised officer, before it can be removed. Should the vehicle be deemed not abandoned, the cost/s will still be incurred
• the vehicle must be parked at the property you manage.
