We have two dedicated teams which carry out leaf clearance each year. This work usually begins in October but this can vary. The leafing programme started on 28 October this year.
Clearance goes on for around 10 weeks.
The teams focus on clearing and recycling leaves in streets with the heaviest leaf fall. These are mainly in the south of the borough where there are a large numbers of London Plane trees.
These dedicated teams are not a street cleansing resource to remove small amounts of leaves across the borough, but focus on where we can remove the most leaves for recycling.
Due to continual leaf fall, even if the leafing team has completed a street it does not mean that the street will be free of leaves. This will continue until the leafing season is over.
This year’s schedule
The teams will be working on streets marked as A in the weeks commencing: 28 October, 11 November, 25 November, 9 December*, 23 December*
The teams will be working on streets marked as B in the weeks commencing: 4 November, 18 November, 2 December, 16 December*, 30 December*
*if necessary
