Local plan

Brent's Local Plan is a collection of planning documents that, in conjunction with national planning policy and the Mayor's London Plan, sets out our strategy for future development in Brent. Our Local Plan comprises of the following documents.

Statement of Community Involvement

The Statement of Community Involvement (SCI) explains how we will involve local communities and other interested parties when we prepare our planning policies and determine planning applications.

Interactive Policies map

The policies map is an interactive map with a link to the local plan policies.

Core strategy

The core strategy sets out the vision, objectives, key policies and monitoring framework for future development in Brent.

The government has introduced further reforms to the planning system through the Deregulation Bill 2015. Read the implications on our existing policies.

Development Management Policies

The Development Management Policies set out detailed policies which are used to determine planning applications for development in the borough.

Site Specific Allocations

The Site Specific Allocations allocates sites for specific land uses and sets out policies to guide their development. For Wembley please refer to Site Allocations in the Wembley Area Action Plan.


The Wembley Area Action Plan

The Wembley Area Action Plan sets out the strategy for growth and regeneration in Wembley over the next 15 years. We adopted the Wembley Area Action Plan at the Full Council Meeting on 19 January 2015.

Sudbury Town Neighbourhood Plan

The Sudbury Town Neighbourhood Plan sets out detailed policies to guides development within the Sudbury Neighbourhood Area.


West London Waste Plan

The six West London Boroughs of Brent, Ealing, Harrow, Hillingdon, Hounslow and Richmond upon Thames and the Old Oak and Park Royal Development Corporation have formally adopted the West London Waste Plan.

The Plan is important to set out a strategy and policies for the sustainable management of all waste produced within the Plan area for the period up to 2031.
