The Queen’s Platinum Jubilee Street Parties
To celebrate the Queen’s Platinum Jubilee, which marks her Majesty’s 70 years of public service, we are helping residents to host street parties over the bank holiday weekend in June.
We are offering a special support package for the Jubilee, which includes:
- waiving fees for street closures (including signs, cones and high-vis jackets)
- offering grants towards the cost of your street party (these will be considered on a first-come first-served basis). We raised the cap on our Love Where You Live Grant for the jubilee so you can apply for up to £1,500
- a photograph taken of your event, some of which will feature in the YourBrent Magazine later in the summer.
We hope this will make it easier for communities to come together and share in this exciting national event!
The street party should take place on a single day between Thursday 2 June to Sunday 5 June (the Jubilee weekend), and between the hours of 9am to 9pm.
All applications for a Platinum Jubilee street party must be received by Thursday 21 April, 2022 and permissions will be granted on a first-come-first-served basis.
You will need to submit separate applications to ask for a street closure and for the grant.
The Mayor of Brent will be available to visit some Jubilee street parties – if you would like to request a visit, please email mayor@brent.gov.uk and include as many details (e.g. location, time) as you can.
Please note that there are larger funds available through the National Lottery Community Fund

How to apply for a street party
Organising a street party is a big responsibility and there are lots of things you need to do.
Our guide to organising a street party (.docx, 61.4kB) includes lots of useful information, including a letter that you can give to your neighbours, an explanation of indemnities and any insurance you may need. Organisers will need to canvass their neighbours to get their approval to close the road for the event.
Remember, apply as early as possible for your event to make sure you get it approved in time.
