Wembley is a vibrant and diverse place, home to Wembley Stadium and one of the largest regeneration projects in the country. As the largest growth area in Brent and a designated Opportunity Area in the London Plan, Wembley is well on the way to realising its potential to deliver over 15,000 new homes and 10,000 new jobs.
Since the old Stadium was demolished in 2002, public infrastructure improvements and over £2.5 billion private investment have transformed the land surrounding the Stadium into a major mixed use development with new homes, retail, commercial, leisure and community uses. Wembley High Road also sees change, with major mixed use developments boosting footfall and spend, public realm improvements, and Wembley Housing Zone an exciting opportunity to link the established town centre into the new Wembley Park regeneration.
Brent’s new Local Plan builds on the Wembley Calling 10 year vision for regeneration, and explains how Wembley Park as part of the wider Wembley Growth Area will drive transformational change to become a high quality, high density, highly connected and sustainable city quarter. It will also continue to be Brent’s main town centre, and will positively adapt to meet the challenges of changes in lifestyles and shopping patterns.
The Wembley Area Action Plan provides details of the formal planning policy that will guide development in the area.
