Fostering changes futures in Brent

A small group of people in Brent are achieving greatness every day. Through fostering they are changing children’s lives by offering them a home, love and support.

From helping the looked after children to stay and do well in school, to building their self-confidence and improving their mental health, foster carers are doing everything they can to shape the future of Brent’s children in care. Unfortunately, the number of fostering households is decreasing - this is why we are joining Foster Care Fortnight to highlight the positive outcome of fostering and recruit new foster carers for local Brent children.

Between 13 and 26 May we will be active offline and online to show you how 'Fostering changes futures in Brent'. We are organising events at different locations around the borough to meet people and speak to them about the benefits of fostering and the attractive rewards offered by Brent. You can find us at Brent Civic Centre, on the ground floor, on 13 and 23 May, at The Library at Willesden Green on 17 May, and at the Job and Apprenticeship Show on 21 May. Come along to meet us.

Coming 13 May, on our @BrentCouncilFostering Facebook page and @BrentFostering Twitter account, we are launching the #future4brent campaign. Get a flavour of what is coming up by watching this video.

Cllr Mili Patel, Cabinet Member for Children and Young People said:

“There are many different reasons children and young people may need to be placed with foster carers.

“Fostering can help to change lives and give young people hope for a future they may not have seen for themselves.

“A stable family network is very important for children as they grow and become young adults. Love, care and support is vital for their long-term well-being.”

Everyone over the age of 21 with indefinite leave to remain in the UK can apply to become a foster carer. To find out more, contact Brent Fostering.
