Resident Attitudes Survey

Taking part in our Resident Survey

Every four to five years, Brent Council commissions a survey of its residents to understand what is important to them.

The last survey took place in 2018.

We are now carrying out another survey, with interviewers from SMSR Ltd knocking on residents’ doors across the borough between Tuesday 12 October and Sunday 22 November.

The interviewers will speak to adults of different ages, backgrounds and lifestyles across Brent. In all, they will conduct 2,100 interviews, each one lasting about 20 minutes.

Participants will be asked a number of questions, including:

  • How they feel about the local area
  • How they rate the Brent Council services they use
  • How they access information
  • How they use the internet
  • If they take part in any volunteering

There are also questions about community safety, health, wellbeing, culture, jobs and employment, as well as demographics.

The demographics are collected for Brent Council to understand how different resident groups feel about certain subject. For example, some residents may find it hard to access services online, and it would be useful for us to understand who these people are.

The results of the survey will be available next year.

The information gathered will be used in a number of ways by Brent Council, including to shape the next Borough Plan, which sets out the priorities for the council for the next few years.
